چکیده
Abstract Background Studies of solid organ transplant recipients (SOTr) hospitalized for Covid-19 have focused on short-term outcomes with approximately 30 days follow-up time. Intermediate-term mortality and associated risk factors intermediate-term death not previously been reported. Methods Using data from a multi-center registry, we assessed by 90 among SOTr between 3/1/2020 12/31/2020. Multivariable Cox-proportional hazard models were used to compare 28 days. Covariates selected priori based known predictors in Covid-19. All patients followed or censored at the time last clinical contact, if this occurred prior day after diagnosis. Results Among Covid-19, 198/979 (20%) died within diagnosis 37/198 (19%) deaths 29 90. Risk included age >65 years (1.8, 95% CI 1.3-2.4, P< 0.001), lung (compared non-lung) (1.6, 1.1-2.4, P=0.02), chronic disease (2.2, 1.5-3.4, P=0.002) heart failure (1.9, 1.2-2.9), which similar reported 28-day (Table 1). Diagnosis during second half 2020 (6/20-12/31/20) was lower (aHR 0.7, 0.5-1.0, P=0.03) compared early (3/1-6/19/20); however, late periods 0.9, 0.7-1.2, P=0.54). Spectrum of cancer risk among US solid organ transplant recipients.
CONTEXT Solid organ transplant recipients have elevated cancer risk due to immunosuppression and oncogenic viral infections. Because most prior research has concerned kidney recipients, large studies that include recipients of differing organs can inform cancer etiology. OBJECTIVE To describe the overall pattern of cancer following solid organ transplantation. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPA...
متن کاملFatal Chagas Disease Among Solid-Organ Transplant Recipients in Colombia
Chagas disease continues to cause substantial morbidity and mortality in endemic areas in Latin America. Although there have been some well documented successes in halting the transmission of Chagas disease through preventive interventions to decrease vector-borne and blood-transfusion cases, this parasitic infection continues to be transmitted through these routes in some areas as well through...
متن کاملLeishmaniasis among organ transplant recipients.
Leishmaniasis is a rarely reported disease among transplant recipients; however, the number of published cases has quadrupled since the beginning of the 1990s. Most cases have been observed in patients living in countries of the Mediterranean basin. Leishmaniasis is most commonly associated with kidney transplantation (77%), and cases are also recorded among patients undergoing liver, heart, lu...
متن کاملNocardia Infection in Solid Organ Transplant Recipients: A Multicenter European Case-control Study.
BACKGROUND Nocardiosis is a rare, life-threatening opportunistic infection, affecting 0.04% to 3.5% of patients after solid organ transplant (SOT). The aim of this study was to identify risk factors for Nocardia infection after SOT and to describe the presentation of nocardiosis in these patients. METHODS We performed a retrospective case-control study of adult patients diagnosed with nocardi...
متن کاملParasitic infections in solid organ transplant recipients.
Parasitic diseases are rare infections after a solid organ transplant (SOT). Toxoplasmosis, Trypanosoma cruzi, and visceral leishmanias are the 3 main opportunistic protozoal infections that have the potential to be lethal if not diagnosed early and treated appropriately after SOT. Strongyloides stercoralis is the one helminthic disease that is life-threatening after transplant. This review add...
